![]() ![]() This perk gives you +5 core worlds so it is fairly useless as a 1st pick. Its a bit useless late game but the tempo and resources saved can make this perk one of the most powerful in the game and it is one of the perks I would 1st pick 100% of the time if I could settle a variety of worlds. Basically you can clear any tile blocker you like and if you a blobbing hard you also do not need to research the tile blocker removal techs. However if you can settle any world you like (machines, adaptive/extremely adaptive) its power becomes very apparent. This perk is all about the early game and getting a very big snowball rolling. This is a very subtle perk with a few people thinking its useless as you can afford to clear tiles anyway. I can't think of any reason even a situational one where this perk is worth taking, at least over picking a perk that actually does something. This seems to be mostly an RP type perk and I think I have picked this perk once or twice ever and that was near the release of Utopia. Alot of the time this perk is more about why you did not take it rather than why you did. It is also key for several strategies where it is 10/10 and it is also a great 1st pick. One of the best perks as it is good early one and doesn't become obsolete later on when you hit repeatable tech. I am sure there is a strategy I am not aware of which requires this perk. COMe to think of it I do not think I have taken it since near the release of the game. The problem with this perk is that border range can be expanded via pointy stick diplomacy so I rarely take it. ![]() The following is a brief review of the ascension perks along with the 3 ascension paths. ![]()
